DT FileCabinet

If you have DT FileCabinet installed with an up-to-date licence, you have the option of printing documents to DT FileCabinet at the same time you do your production printing. The documents that get sent are based on the settings found in "Preferences > DT FileCabinet". Normally, it is recommended that the "Office copy" be sent to DT FileCabinet, but it can be configured however you wish. If you will also be using DT Client Portal, and wish to have DT FileCabinet transmit documents to it, it is recommended that the "Client copy" also be sent to DT FileCabinet.

Settings

There are three DT FileCabinet options available when using Production Printing:

1. Print documents destined only for DT FileCabinet.

Use this option when you want to send documents to DT FileCabinet, but not to DT Client Portal. This option should be selected if you are sending draft documents to DT FileCabinet which are not ready to be seen by the client.

Note: If you have previously sent a document with the same name to DT FileCabinet using the "Print documents destined for both DT FileCabinet and DT Client Portal" option, then the new document will still be marked for transmission to DT Client Portal even when using this option. To correct this, you should open DT FileCabinet, find the document in question, go into the document properties, and unmark it for transmission to DT Client Portal.

2. Print documents destined for both DT FileCabinet and DT Client Portal.

Use this option to send documents to DT FileCabinet, some or all of which you wish to have sent to DT Client Portal. The documents that actually get sent to DT Client Portal will be based on your DT FileCabinet "component" settings (see the DT FileCabinet page for more information on components). With this option, the corresponding client (drawer) in DT FileCabinet will automatically be marked as a contributor to DT Client Portal. Only clients (drawers) with this designation can potentially have their documents sent to DT Client Portal.

3. Do not print documents destined either for DT FileCabinet or DT Client Portal.

Use this option when you wish to use Production Printing, but do not wish to send anything to DT FileCabinet. For example, you may wish to print the tax return to the printer for review purposes, but do not yet want to send it to DT FileCabinet.

DT Client Portal

If your licence is configured for DT Client Portal, you have the option of printing the "Client copy" of the tax return to DT Client Portal at the same time you do your production printing. To turn on and configure this feature, please go to "Preferences > DT Client Portal".

Note: It is recommended that you only send the "Client copy" of the tax return to DT Client Portal either directly from DT Max, or via DT FileCabinet, but not both. Otherwise, you will end up with duplicate documents. Consult the Best Practices section in DT Client Portal for more information.

Onvio

If your licence is configured for Onvio, you have the option of printing the "Client copy" of the tax return, plans, and as-filed snap-shots to Onvio at the same time you do your production printing. To turn on and configure this feature, please go to "Preferences > Onvio".
